GEO basics
What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?
GEO means optimizing your online presence so AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity know your company and recommend it in their answers. While SEO competes for spots in Google search results, GEO is about being part of the direct AI answer, because that's increasingly where the buying decision happens.
What's the difference between SEO and GEO?
SEO optimizes for search engine rankings: the user sees a list of results and clicks one. GEO optimizes for AI recommendations: the AI names your company directly in its answer, often without the user visiting a website at all. The two complement each other, but GEO becomes more important the more people use AI assistants instead of search engines.Read the full guide
Why am I not recommended by ChatGPT?
Common reasons: your website doesn't clearly describe who you are and what you offer (lack of entity clarity), structured data is missing, your company is mentioned on too few trustworthy sources, or your content doesn't answer the questions users ask the AI. That's exactly what our audit uncovers, including concrete measures.Read the full guide
Is GEO relevant for small businesses too?
Especially! For local or specialized queries ("Who is the best plumber in Hamburg?") AI systems recommend specific companies. SMEs that optimize early position themselves as local experts before the competition reacts.Read the full guide
How many people use AI search at all?
More than most think: ChatGPT alone has 900 million weekly active users (OpenAI, February 2026). In Germany 58 % of people aged 16+ use AI, 34 % at least weekly (Bitkom, 2026). And 41 % of German companies already use AI actively, more than twice as many as in 2024.
Is there evidence that GEO really pays off?
Yes, from independent studies: brands cited in AI answers earn 35 % more organic clicks (Seer Interactive, 2026). Visitors arriving via AI search are on average 4.4× more valuable than classic search visitors (Semrush, 2025). At the same time around 60 % of Google searches end without a click to a website (Bain & Company, 2025). We link the key studies on our homepage in the "The shift is measurable" section.
Is GEO also relevant for sustainability and ESG topics?
Yes, as a visibility use case. Driven by regulation such as CBAM (in its definitive regime since 1 January 2026) and the CSRD, buyers, investors and journalists increasingly scrutinise sustainability and supply-chain characteristics, more and more via AI assistants. Companies with real sustainability achievements that communicate them in a hard-to-find way get passed over in those AI answers. Aviar measures and improves the findability of your existing sustainability content in AI systems, we do not offer ESG consulting, reporting or certification ourselves, only visibility.Read the full guide
Audits & results
Does Aviar carry out the GEO measures for me?
Not at its core, and that is deliberate. Aviar is a self-service analysis tool: we measure your visibility across four AI systems and produce a prioritised action plan tailored to your company. You or your web agency handle the implementation, many recommendations need no special technical knowledge, and we help by email with questions about using the tool. Monitoring then measures whether your measures work. If you want more, we take it on: personal consulting and individual measures — or the whole website (Aviar Web). Prices on request, [email protected].
How does the free Mini Audit work?
You enter your company name; we find your website automatically. We then ask two AI assistants three typical customer questions from your industry and region, without naming you, and show whether you appear in the answers and who is named instead. We also check whether your website answers these questions. The deep audit asks many more questions across several AI systems and derives an action plan from them. Result within minutes, free and with no obligation, including a PDF report by email.
What does the deep audit offer beyond the Mini Audit?
The deep audit analyzes your visibility across several AI systems (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity) with far more test questions, compares you with competitors, analyzes your website and source situation, and delivers a prioritized action plan with concrete recommendations, also as a PDF report.
Deep audit or monitoring — which one do I need?
It is not an either-or: monitoring requires a deep audit and cannot be booked without one. The reason is simple — the subscription re-measures what the deep audit found. Without that first measurement there would be nothing to re-measure and no measures whose effect could show. So the deep audit answers “what do I need to do?” and delivers the action plan for your company; monitoring answers “is it working?” and warns you of a significant drop.
Which AI systems are analyzed?
We analyze the four most important AI assistants for business enquiries: ChatGPT (OpenAI), Claude (Anthropic), Gemini (Google) and Perplexity.Read the full guide
How is the visibility score calculated?
The score measures how often, at what position and in what context your company appears in AI answers, across many test questions. It makes your visibility comparable: between you and competitors, and over time (e.g. before and after optimization).Read the full guide
How quickly will I see improvements?
First measurable improvements are often visible after 4 bis 8 weeks; lasting positioning takes 3 bis 6 months depending on industry and competition. With the monitoring subscription we automatically re-measure your visibility and show the trend.
Do I have to completely rebuild my website?
Usually not. GEO optimisation builds on the presence you already have: clearer content, structured data, better sourcing — and the recommendations from the audit are prioritised so that a few targeted changes deliver the most. Sometimes, though, the ground is too thin to build on. The free Mini Audit already tells you: it judges whether your website holds up, needs reworking, or should be rebuilt. For that last case there is Aviar Web.
Do you build websites too?
Yes, as of recently: Aviar Web. Sometimes the problem is not visibility but the ground it stands on — a website that gives too little away cannot sensibly be patched up. Then we build it, new or as a thorough rework, made from the start so AI systems find what they need to recommend you. There are several price tiers. Whether it is worth it for you is something the free Mini Audit already tells you. Its own page is in the works; until then: [email protected].
Pricing & payment
What does Aviar cost?
The Mini Audit is free. The deep audit is a one time purchase. Monitoring is a subscription you can cancel monthly, and it builds on a deep audit — without one it cannot be booked, because it re-measures that result. Websites we build on request in several price tiers (Aviar Web). Current prices are on our pricing page.
How does payment work?
Payment runs securely via Stripe (credit card and other payment methods). After purchase your audit credit is automatically added to your account and you receive an invoice.
Is VAT charged?
No. As a small business under § 19 (1) German VAT Act we do not charge VAT; all prices are final prices.
Can I cancel the monitoring subscription?
Yes, at any time to the end of the billing period, directly in your account via the subscription portal, without a call or written notice.

Do I need an account for the Mini Audit?
No, the Mini Audit works without registration, you only need an email address for the result report. For deep audits, monitoring and managing your companies you create a free account.
